Many people look for NYC Vacation Rentals for their NYC trip, usually so they can save money and live like a real New Yorker in a great neighborhood. While I personally know many people who have had great success with vacation apartments, and many New Yorkers use vacation rentals when they travel, NYC is a different story. Unless you own the whole building, a vacation rental for less than 30 days is illegal! In 2010, the NY State Governor passed a bill making short term rentals illegal and NYC plans to heavily enforce this law.
There are still many great options for NYC vacation rentals and here are some top tips when selecting a NYC vacation apartment:

1) Do they rent or own their apartment? If they rent, and then are illegally subleasing to you, the apartment owner may kick you out.
2) The exact address and cross streets – many listings claim to near places they are not
3) How accurate are the online photos? When were they last updated?
